TOP FIVE ADELAIDE OPSHOPS

They don’t call it Radelaide for nothing…this city has some sweet secondhand spots bursting at the seams with everything from vintage to designer pieces going for as little as $2!

We’ve got the downlow from serial thrifter Jo on where to go, so read on for our top five Adelaide opshops…

St Aggies
Address: St Augustine Church, 183 Unley Rd, Unley
Trading hours: Monday – Friday 9:30am – 4pm and Saturday 9:30am – 1pm

This could be the thrift shop where all your dreams come true, or at least your footwear fantasies…last time I was there they had a selection of killer boots, classy heels and Mimco flats going for $10!

The store is full of incredible vintage pieces, everyday wear as well as high end garments like this Carla Zampatti blazer (pictured above), going for just $10! They even have a special occasions rack which we think is kinda adorable!

Did we mention their 50% off rack out the front?! #rundontwalk

Worn Again
Address: 126a Jetty Road, Glenelg
Trading Hours: Monday-Saturday 9am-5pm

Worn Again is a special place because everything is $2 (except furniture + display props) yes everything is really $2!! They sell women and men’s clothing, shoes, accessories, books, DVDs and bric-a-brac. It’s not only a magical place because of this – it’s a space decked-out with retro nic-nacs and memorabilia right in the heart of Glenelg on Jetty Road (across from Haighs Chocolates – an easy landmark!!)

Worn Again opened last year in May and is run by a team of volunteers from Citylight Church as well as local folk (they loved being customers so much, they wanted to spend more time in store!) All proceeds go to the local Community projects run by Citylight Church involving reaching out and supporting vulnerable groups of people, from families in debt to sex-workers and prisoners. Head in there for a quality sometimes-even-designer bargain (or several!!), a chat and a boogie…the beats are hoppin’!

Big A Boutique
Address: 539 Goodwood Road, Colonel Light Gardens
Trading Hours: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9am-12pm and the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month 9am-2pm

The Big A Boutique is always buzzing with young and old on the hunt for a treasure! They have an incredible ever-changing range of high-quality stock – mainly in the way of women’s clothing. However, they also have kid’s and men’s clothing, bric-a-brac, books, shoes, jewellery and random bits and bobs. Even if you don’t plan on it – you’re bound to walk out with something in your hot little hands!

Designer labels can be hidden amongst the endless racks of clothing but not at designer prices – on average you will pay anywhere from $3-$6 for an item. The shop is completely run by lovely and hardworking volunteers from Colonel Light Gardens Church of Christ and local Community members. All proceeds go to many and various charities they select to support throughout the year. If you have never been to the Big A you are missing out!!

Junktion
Address: 72 Candy Road, Happy Valley
Trading Hours: Wednesday-Friday: 9:30am-4pm and Saturday: 9:30am-12:30pm

Junktion in all its loveliness is in a quaint little old chapel down south and has been for about five months now, since moving from their last space. It’s a beautifully decorated space with nooks and crannies of visual delights and bargains! Clothes, bric-a-brac, jewellery, toys, books! Average pricing is about $5 except the retro rack which has quality vintage gear ranging from $8-$15.

They also do, coffee, tea and treats always served fit for a queen. Pixi and her team of volunteers are wonderful and funds raised goes to a Christian organisation called Access the Story. One of my favourite places to sit, be, relax, chat and peruse all the treasures around the place – I’ve never ever walked out empty handed!

Lions Club of Richmond
Address: 57 Penong Avenue, Camden Park
Trading Hours: Wednesday 9am-12pm and the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month 9am-12pm

This place is an absolute gold mine….a giant shed on a random side-street filled with secondhand everything and anything! Peruse their abundance of furniture and trawl the carts of bric-a-brac! Vintage treasures await you. But you’ve got to get in early. The good thing about this Lions Club is that they never seem to run out of stock.

They also have books, clothes, electrical goods and everything in between. The prices range from $3 for clothing items to $30 for a piece of furniture – it just depends on what it is, but it’s cheap! And if you live close by they deliver! All their proceeds go to differing charities and people in need. Go on – adventure there!
