Ok, so I’m going to let the cat out of the thrifted bag! Here’s my top five thrifting spots for Brisbane…
Yesterday’s Thriftstore, Rosalie
This opshop has so many rooms you could actually get lost! It was converted from a house so there’s eight to rummage through, including a bargain room where everything is $2 and on Sundays you can fill a bag of garments in there for $5.
If that doesn’t get you salivating, labels like ASOS, Wayne Cooper, Cue, Top Shop, Sheike and sass and bide might do the trick! There’s also plenty of statement necklaces and fancy footwear for sale, so if you’ve got a hectic social schedule and need a ‘new’ ensemble, they’ve got you covered from head to toe.
Most pieces retail around the $7 – $9 mark which isn’t bad when you realise your retail therapy is also providing development and brain injury support for children and adults.
ADDRESS: 39 Nash Street, Rosalie
TRADING HOURS: Mon – Sat 9am to 4:30pm and Sunday 9:30am to 4pm
Windsor Road Thriftstore, Red Hill
With two opshops side by side tucked underneath the chapel, it kind of feels like stumbling on a gold mine when you walk in the doors. The Eternity boutique on the right houses the finer things in life with high fashion flashy garments and a floor to ceiling rack of shoes…any girls fantasy. The thrift store on the left is lower budget with most items priced at $2.50, but it’s definitely worth perusing for clothing, bric a brac and bags.
ADDRESS: 16 Windsor Rd Red Hill
TRADING HOURS: 9:30am – 2:30pm Monday – Saturday
Zion Bargain Centre, Nundah
You know an opshop is going to be a goldmine when it’s tucked away on a side street in an obscure location. I’ve snapped up everything from killer vintage pieces, to Zimmerman and Josh Goot. And don’t even get me started on their price range…all garments are under $10 and most days they seem to be having a half price sale! So. freaking. good! They also have red spot specials for $1, blue spot specials for 50 cents each or 4 for for $1, and they also have a bargain bin you can rummage to fill a bag for $2!
Address: 16 Union Street, Nundah
Trading hours: Monday – Friday 9am – 1:30pm & Saturday 9am-11:30am
*CASH ONLY*
MS Opshop, Dutton Park
You don’t even need $20 in your pocket to shop at the MS Opshop…they offer a fill a bag for $5 deal all year round! The little store is crammed full of goodness, from incredible silk vintage pieces to on trend skirts and designer labels. On my last visit I scored an Ann Taylor sweater for 50 cents!
ADDRESS: 2 Grantham St, Dutton Park
TRADING HOURS: Monday – Thursday 9:30am-1:30pm and Friday 9am- 3pm
*CASH ONLY*
St Paul’s Opshop, Ashgrove
With only two days each week to tap this thrift store, you really do need to make a special plan to pop in but it’s so worth it!
They stock a lot of designer clothes; Witchery, Bettina Liano, Veronika Maine and I purchased some Ray Ban sunglasses for $3 recently that were the real deal (they had prescription lenses- don’t worry I changed them!), but its the staff that really make it. They are just so lovely you could almost eat them up!
Did I mention the 3 garments for $2 rack out the front? Enough said!
ADDRESS: Corner Waterworks and Jubilee Road, Ashgrove
TRADING HOURS: 9am-1pm Wednesdays and Saturdays

Love Zion opshop too! Lawnton: 3 opshops together! Salvoa, Vinnies and my fave Neighbours Aid.
Need to get up to Lawnton again…having withdrawals! 🙂
Planning my next Brisvegas trip already…
Have you visited Brisbane Vintage and Collectable’s Op Shop in Moorooka? M-F 9:30-2:30 Sat 9-13. All funds go toward disadvantaged women and children!
I don’t think I have! Could you send through the address? Thanks so much 🙂
Shop 5 number 407 Beaudesert Rd Moorooka on a service road in a small strip of shops near Muriel Avenue. Great coffee shop in the block too! Hours M-F 9:30 -2:00 Sat 9-12
The ops along annerley road are excellent and St Lucia village op has SOO many pairs of jeans!
Are you talking about the McIntyre Centre opshop in St Lucia? Love that one! 🙂
Salvos family store Carin Heights
Love this store too 🙂
Oh no, giving away the secrets.
Haha it was hard to share my top five I’m not going to lie 🙂
Must try the one at Nundah!
Loved Again OpShop, KP Centre 373 Chatswood Rd Shailer Park. Tues, Wed and Thurs 9 – 2. Most days are definitely diamonds here. The lovely staff are now doing coffee/tea and biscuits for $2 a serve. Ample off street parking and a fab playground for the ever (or not so) patient kids as a reward once shopping complete. Cash only, I don’t think I’ve ever paid over $10 with most items around $3 – $5. Recent purchases, Country Road, Wayne Cooper, Witchery, Taking Shape….. Not sure I should be letting the cat out of the bag, but I’m feeling the ❤
Can’t wait to try this one out! Thanks for the hot tip Sharyn 🙂
Gosh girls, I was making a sneaky online purchase when your emails popped through. Hannah, might see you in Loved Again some time soon!
Here’s another little hot tip (not quite related to opshopping, but its about not paying full retail….). I’m a member over at Mimco’s online website. Anyway they have just emailed me a birthday voucher of $30. So I went online straight to the ‘Sale’ tab (naturally) and have just purchased a rather wild ring, reduced from $99 to $29. So essentially I have $1 credit in my account and am just paying $9.95 postage. Winning! Oh and ebay have just sent me a bday pressie of $10 off anything so may buy those ‘Not Your Daughter’s Jean’s’ I’ve been eyeing off……
Another little trick that sometimes work with online shopping…. leave your items in the basket for an hour or two and the retailer may just send you a reminder email and a discount code to speed up your puchases. But be warned, does not always work, you may find your stuff is dumped out, particularly during a major sale. Shop hard!
St Veronica’s Thrift Shop, 89 Hardgrave Road, West End – http://www.stveronica.org.au/St_Veronica_Welfare_Committee/Welcome.html
Hi Hannah – I met you when you came into Vinnies at Milton where I volunteer. As you know, we have some wonderful designer bargains on offer, many with tags still attached. I love volunteering there as every day is different and our customers walk away having found a bargain or two and having also helped those who need it most. We have quite a lot of regular customers and it is a pleasure interacting with them and seeing what treasures they have found!
Hey Sharyn! Thanks for getting in touch! I love your store too…hopefully be in soon xx
Great. Look forward to seeing you soon Hannah.
